![]() ![]() The constantly shifting playing field from offense to defense is partly inspired by American football – with the detonation of an enemy installation being the Battlefield equivalent of scoring a touchdown. You need to be able to predict enemy movement to defend at the right place at the right time and reclaim the offensive – or intercept the enemy to reclaim possession of the bomb. Since there’s only one bomb at a time, you will often find yourself going from attacker to defender in the blink of an eye. Like most other game modes, there is usually also a time limit in place to make sure the match does not go on for too long.Ĭompared to Conquest, the action in Obliteration tends to be heavily focused on wherever the bomb is located. Obliteration can be devastatingly quick or a harrowing tug of war depending on how good your team is at staying together and delivering the bomb. The game lasts until one team has detonated the other team’s three objectives. Once a bomb has detonated, the next one randomly spawns in a new location and the chaos starts all over. Both teams must fight to pick up the bomb, drop it off at one of their opponent’s three objectives, arm it, and destroy the objective. One of the two new game modes in Battlefield 4, Obliteration is definitely the most explosive! In Obliteration, a bomb spawns at a random location on the map. We call this the ”Battlefield Moments Generator”. It's a case of finding like-minded people, and maybe a bit of luck.Combat type: Mad dash in vehicles and on foot to deliver explosivesĭesigned for: 24 (X360, PS3) 32 (Xbox One, PS4, PC) Most if not all my "best squad ribbons" (not to many) came from playing like this. And if the group that's the defending is well balanced (support, assault, engineer work pretty well) you can wreck people. ![]() My best games were played while defending flags in Conquest, and the action just kept rolling in at the perfect pace (you know what I'm talking about, enough to for constant action but no steamrolling). And then all of a sudden everyone comes running, guns blazing to 'help' you.īut I agree, when the stars align, these are my favorite matches. More often than not when I'm defending I either a) get no action for half the game (and as soon as I do leave it's being contested) or b) I get steamrolled by a chopper, a tank and 3 infantries. I know it's not popular but believe me, you will see A LOT of action if you just sit at a flag. But as a solo player (don't really play with people I can communicate with) this: ![]() I agree with you, that defending a flag is really important and can be fun if you're not the only one there. Recommended server for the EU guys with extended timer because 20 min is not enough If you haven't tried much Oblit in the past - you really should, its F***ing awesome. The comments at the end of matches are often very positive! I've not had that in any other game mode in battlefield to date. And there is a real feel of a team working together. In locker you get so much reviving and support helping each other across the map. People STOP and pick you up in jeeps! You get convoys of tanks and support covering the bomb carrier across the map. In no other game mode have I seen the team work you see in obliteration. And nothing gives you that same rush of having that bomb in your hands and knowing you have lit up like a Christmas tree. With out that team support there your going down. As soon as one dude has the bomb and they light up on the map the entire enemy team is on their tail. Obliteration - Now this REALLY foces you to work together. I always feel I know what I should be doing next and you get a shit tone of those "battlefield" moments when your on the edge of your seat! It's just very disappointing rush has been so badly done on bf4 :( You must stick together, revive, give ammo and general work together to take the objective down. Rush - I love rush and would say it comes second to oblit - It is a very clear objective that forces team work much more then conquest does to be successful. I have had good games on it in the past but these days I just dont find it a solid enough objective for me to care and end up playing a lot more "rambo" lone wolf and just sit around wondering what to do next. In that time the flag you just took over 2 mins before hand is being taken back, then you walk back to that flag and the one you just took is being taken again. I think obliteration is the best Battlefield Game Mode to date - But if it is to one sided it can be all over before the game even gets going.Ĭonquest - this most popular - I just find it very old fashioned, its very simple and you have a pretty lifeless objective to stand under a flag for 10 seconds.
